Rough Idle, Restart and runs fine ??
1999 F-250 with 110,000 miles. I live in southern California (okay I know) bought this truck new and have done everything to keep it in TOP shape. Ford had a recall for something like drive shaft posistion senser. I had ford replace that.
Here's what happens you are driving along and the engine feels like its running on half the cylinders, you lose power and if you put your foot into it it just flutters (Okay something like that) Now here is the interesting part. If I shut it down wait a few seconds and restart it runs fine. This happens about 2 twice a month and now about every other time i start it, getting worst !! I just sent it to the local repair shop as I need a new alternator, and as the machaninc started it up there was the same problem. Rough as hell, told him to restart and ran fine. Feels like it is not getting fuel, no power AND no smoke. ANY IDEAS |

Mine did that once recently, restarted and ran fine. Read your DTC's and see what comes out, I have a thread on here about throwing codes like crazy, maybe you and I are in the same boat?? You may have low fuel pressure somewhere. ![]() Jacob |

It could be the EBP Valve is sticking and when you shut the motor off and restart, it unsticks the valve. Remove the valve ( its located in front of the low pressure oil resevoir) and spray carb cleaner in the valve tube a couple of times.
