blue smoke

i recently bought a 96 7.3 with 320,000km. when i first start it in the mornings it smokes tons of blue smoke till it warms up. When it warms up the only time it smokes is when i hold the accelerator for more than 2-3 seconds.
when idiling no smoke. brand new to the diesel engines. any ideas suggestions would be greatly appreciated
