This exact problem is why i joined this forum. I have '99 7.3 that does the same. I replaced the wiper motor because it went bad. Never even considere that had anything to do with it. But the problem remains only when it rains or damp outside.

Do me a favor, go to fords recall list and put in your vin number. See if you have a recall that replaces your CPS. Have that changed and see what happens. You can not replace the CPS from anyone else but a Ford product. If you have already done so, when it rains do not do anything but drive it for a bit without putting on the wipers. After a while put on the wipers and find out what it will do. The other option is to take it to a shop and have the codes read. Hope this helps

You may want to check another thread on this forum which discusses a similar problem. Try looking at "stalls when it rains".
