what is the name of a hose???? Help please

hey all,

First thank you eveyone for the great posts about this engine. My first diesel truck, and had problems from the get go, but I am working them out!!!!

There is a steel tube that sarts at the back of the passenger side head and runs somewhere to the front of the engine. it is not the HPOP lines. I think one part of my oil leak might be that, but I have no clue what that line is, or what is does.

I am getting the HPOP o rings today, and pray that fixes my oil leak for now.... then I get to work on the all fun oil pan!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks

I think the line you are talking about is a fuel line.

fuel line... I will have to look again, it might be because it might go to the injection pump.......

Update on the oil leaks.. replaced the 2 hpop o rings, and the truck runs better, but still a oil leak, I think it might be the dip stick o rings. It looks like a job, but not that bad... I just hope this fixes the oil problems.

Injection pump, what year is this thing.

If you have a HPOP you don’t have an injection pump.
On a 99.5 down 7.3 Powerstroke you have a fuel pump in the valley under the fuel filter housing by the HPOP.
On a 99.5 up 7.3 Powerstroke you only have the fuel filter housing and HPOP in the valley, fuel pump on frame.

I suspect you are talking about the fuel return line unless it’s pre-Powerstroke.

If you have replaced the 3 HPOP o-rings as well as the 2 HPOP line o-rings at the head and still have a leak the next most likely place is the turbo pedestal o-rings or the HPOP gasket. Hit a car wash and wash it off good (when no one is looking and without spraying a hot turbo with water) then drive it home. Once you get home use a small mirror and good light to find where any fresh oil is leaking from, you may need to look after a couple trips to find it if it’s small.

it is a late 99.

changed 2 hpop o rings, new turbo pedistal and turbo. now there is no more oil on hte top end, but still leaking oil.

from under the engine, I see that my jb weld around the dipstick flange did not work!!!!! the flange is loose and with so much crap and grim around that area, it will be very had to take apart, but on the bright side, I found a kit from International that fixes this problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Plus have to wait on FORD to get the dipstick tube in monday. Mine was rusted up bad, and came out in 3 pieces. Now ford calls for a 2 pices tube????? if it works, great.....

I will take pics of the kit and make a write up about it if it works!

This kit 1846146C91 from International is used to repair a leak at the flange w/o removing the pan.

There is a steel line that runs from the EBPV to the front of the engine where the EBPS in screwed into it.
