aftermarket cps?

i am having the same problem as a lot of other guys on here with my truck failing contributuin test on 3 and 8, and from what i read its because of my gray cps and that i need the old black one, at advance auto parts they have a black cps that is made by bpw, will this fix my problem or do you guys know who still sells the black ford sensors?

IT FIXED IT, i threw the advance auto parts cps in it and as soon as i started it i noticed it ran smoother, ran the contributuion test and it passed, it also starts a lot easier too, that recall sensor that ford put in was a piece of crap. i cant believe i replaced the #3 and #8 injectors when there was nothing wrong with them it was the stupid cps.

I am going to try that too, since I tried to get the black CPS IH # 1821720C99 at IH but, of course, they wanted to sell me the other part # that came up, I think C91 which I've read is the gray one.

The black one at Advance is made by BWD, #CSS1603 is what comes up on the Advance website.

O'Reilly's website shows 2 BWD #'s: a CSS1603 and a CSS626.

(above Advance & O'Reilly's numbers were for 2000 F350 7.3 search)

BWD's website says the CSS1603 is for '97 to '03 pickups & vans and '00 to '04 Excursions.

BWD's website says the CSS626 is for '94 to '96 pickups and '95 to '96 vans.

The more I think about, since they screwed up on the original black CPS and now the new gray CPS and are making stuff in Mexico anyway, I am actually more at ease NOT using a International or a Motorcraft CPS......and that's not to mention all the other stuff Ford and International have screwed up on.

Bought the CSS1603 at O'Reilly's for $26, the box says Made in USA, it has the larger end diameter of my original black CPS, not the smaller end diameter of the gray CPS. Will let you know how it works.

BWD is owned by SMP which is owned by Borg-Warner.
