Stored Codes:
P1280 Injector Control Pressure Sensor Circuit Low
P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input
KOEO Scantool Data:
ICP Duty Cycle: 14.84%
ICP: 38 PSI
ICP Volts: 0.23 V
(have an AE with enhanced ford package if there is other relevant data to collect from it)
Buzz test, all injectors sound fine and the same
Loses all data when cranking, after some reading it seems early 2000s don't show engine RPM on the scantool? I'm losing all data though, it all drops to 0. Is this a PCM issue? Whatever it is it doesn't seem normal.
Other data:
Replaced fuel filter, IPR, CPS, ICP, HPOP, and HPOP lines.
Plastic on old ICP was cracked almost in half, looked like it was probably bad. Possibly related to the oil dumps? Check the attached picture, it's cracked about halfway through right at where the plastic mates to the metal.
The fuel bowl fills, the HPOP reservoir has oil.
Oil pressure gauge stays low while cranking for a few seconds, then rises to 3/4.
It's a van chassis so there's no tachometer.
Battery voltage: 12.45V when fully charged and key off, seems to crank well at this voltage
History:
1. Drove it about 700mi when it suddenly lost power and oil pressure. It would sit there and idle roughly but giving it gas caused it to die.
2. Checked the oil and it was very low suddenly, as if a serious leak had occurred or maybe as if it had been slowly leaking oil the whole time and just dropped to a critical breakpoint. There was oil coating some of the underbelly struts, bottom of the engine, etc. I filled it back up with oil and cranked it, it did not start. The mechanic I got it to thought it might be the HPOP or IPR, but we gave it a small shot of ether, about 1/4 of a second's worth and it cranked up and ran relatively normally if a bit weak. He recommended not turning it off until I got it home.
3. Drove it another 200 mi to get home without turning it off, it would still get up to 70+ mph without issue but seemed to take a little longer getting there.
4. When I got home it would not start after leaving it over night. Gave it another tiny shot of ether to drive it over to a mechanic, it started right up, ran same as before.
5. They thought it was the IPR, but changing it didn't do anything. Then they thought it was the HPOP and quoted me 3,000 dollars to replace it. No thanks I'll do it myself. They had it running for me to drive back home when I arrived, presumably ethered it.
6. Replaced the HPOP with a t-500 (which is just a remanufactured oem with some small alterations) and replaced IPR. It did not start easily, but after a lot of cranking it started up without ether. After running for about 30 seconds or so a serious oil leak occurred somewhere on top of the engine, not sure exactly where and it died.
7. Pulled it back apart, ordered new HPOP lines after looking at where the oil was and put it all back together making sure all of the gaskets and o-rings were in place and all of the line connections were solid. Not certain it was the HPOP lines, but the oil was under significant pressure and dropped probably 1.5-2.0 gallon of oil within several seconds.
8. Refilled it with oil, oil in the reservoir as well. Still doesn't start.
9. Replaced the ICP with an oem, still nothing. Put in another oem IPR, nothing. Put in a new CPS, nothing.
10. Eventually resorted to trying to ether it again to see if it starts at all. Nothing.
I'm nearing my wit's end. Next best guess is that it's something in the electrical system, maybe the ICP pigtail, possibly the PCM, could it be the IDM, GPR?
Some reading has lead me to believe it might even be as simple as worn out batteries, delivering too little voltage to start and also causing my scantool to drop data.
