Checked my boots no tears in them. Sound is definetly coming out the exaust could a bent turbine wheel cause this situation. Could the wastegate cause a really really loud turbo whine.

Hi, I was just wondering if your exhaust back pressure valve is not working? Im up here in SK and its around -10C in the mornings when i leave for work. The truck is straight piped and it sounds like a jet engine when that valve is closed off anywhere along the exhaust side. It opens when the engine temps warm up, the idea is to keep the heat in the engine so the cab can heat up faster... But if you try to drive it when its in the closed position the truck will hardly build boost, max speed I've found to be about 55 mph, if that. Since you said that you pulled the turbo off the pedestal and did touch anything inside, i would wonder if a) the wastegate solenoid or wires are damaged or b) if it applies to your truck (some 7.3s don't have the EBP valve), there is a problem with the linkage for the actuator or the actuator itself and/or oil passage for the EBP valve. Could you have damaged the oil passage seal or restricted the flow? To check the EBP take off the linkage and tie the valve open, if you get your power back thats the culprit. btw, the actuator is an electrically controlled, hydraulically actuated ram. Sorry about the long winded reply, hope it helps!

The down pipe is connected does it connect dowwn under the truck. Would that make a signifigant power loss?
