wandering idle

hi..

I've got a 01 7.3 on which the idle wanders a bit. it's barely noticeable on the tach. -like un-noticable unless you really stare and concentrate. it happens in a regular interval.

-new fuel filter, CPS is pretty new and it did it before i installed the new CPS. What is that sensor on top of the motor between the alternator and the lift hook....is that the ICP?

is that a possible suspect?

thanks!

yeah the ICP is a 3-wire sensor on the front of the drivers side head. Unplug it and see if the idle clears up. if so it's the sensor.

Did you ever find out anything on this?? Mine does the same thing. A noticable surge in noise and very slight feel in the seat but can't ever see it on the tach.

-just unplugged the ICP while idling and the idle changed pretty drastically so, i'm assuming the sensor is working. the idle lowered a good bit. idled smooth but lower....and my unplugging it tripped the SES so....i'm guessing it's not the ICP

did you try n20?if so, what happened?

idle dropped considerably from the normal 700 so, that sounds like a change for the worse.

update:

i had my truck @ ford for the cruise ctrl recall and talked to the diesel tech. He believes it's ICP related.

n20: if you do it before i do, please let me know if it smooths things out....
