Tube to exhaust manifold

I have a tube going to the front passenger side exhaust manifold.
It is rusty and broke off at the manifold.
It also runs up towards the top of engine.
Can someone tell me what this is and if it is very important.
Can I eliminate this or must I fix.

it is the exhaust back pressure sensor line. it tells the computer how much backpressure there is.

Might be a good idea to fix it rather than delete it, You don't really want to get rid of anything that sends messages to the computer, just my opinion of course.

Gord.

Don't quote me on this, but I think it is used primarily to monitor and/or regulate the EBPV, the (heat) valve, if you want to call it that. Don't know if it does anything else. I know that I have a trouble code stored in my PCM for the EBPV sensor. Check engine light isn't on but the hard fault code is there. Doesn't seem to affect how she runs though
