Well, I was told that the scanners should give some indication as to whether or not the problem is related to the injectors. From what I have read though many of the symptoms are similar to that of the injectors. This forum particularly directs all white smoke and lagging to the attention of the injectors and wiring harness just about. I figure it would be a great place to start out. I have a set of injectors that were pulled out of another engine (guy wrecked truck with only 10,000 miles on it and mutalated the block). So am figuring that the injectors should be in almost perfect condition. If nothing else then I will be able to elliminate that as a possible problem without having to spend a fortune on the price of new or remaned injectors. I am not convinced that a great running engine that was actually quite in comparison to most diesels would simply blow up without any warning at all. I mean if it was using oil, extra fuel, knocking or ticking before hand, or if it had overheated at all then I would write the engine off as being dead but the problem came out of no where. I have blown plenty of gas engines so I have knowledge in that aspect. I ran through all the typical areas of diagnostics in comparison to the diesel and it simply does not seem to add up. I am sure hoping that we are able to find the problem and get it fixed. |

Any chance it had a little bit of gasoline in the fuel? A friend had someone spike his tank with alot of gasoline, and it knocked like crazy, wouldn't idle, white/blue smoked, and had no power. He thought he'd blown it up, but had the same question. How'd this go from reliable and runnin perfect, to blown, overnight? If your truck's been sittin for two years, I'd be hesitant to run that fuel through the motor anyway. I'd recommend starting there. Drain the fuel out of it, and put fresh fuel and a fresh fuel filter in it, and start lookin for problems after that. |

I had a similar problem last week on a kenworth t-8oo with a c-15 catarpillar. there was about 6 inches of sludge in the fuel tank and it keeps getting pulled through to the fuel filter bowl.Had to drain and pull the tank and and purge the fuel system components. this may sound somewhat first grade but have you thoroughly inspected the fuel system for contamination? It sounds to me that at least 3 of the four problems u mentioned could be a result of bad fuel. just a guess, good luck |

Ok so heres what we know.. If you unplug any of the injectors they cause a miss in the engine.. If you unplug the number 8 injector there is no change in the engine, no miss, no nothing... However there is no longer a knock in the engine with the new injector... Thoughts.. and does it matter if the number 8 number does not match up on the replacement injector... |

Was checking this out and was wondering if I could get some clarification on what exactly this is... is it the Electronic Variable Brake Proportioning or possibly Bully brake; warm-up valve or am I completely wrong on both of them? |

Oil in the exhaust pipe? That almost always means the turbo is goin/gone.
Could be where the smoke is comin from. Dunno about the knock. Definately cause a loss of power. Pull your intake and check shaft play. Pull the downpipe and check that side too. |
