Low power
Today the truck was running fine then i stoped to get somthing to eat. shut the truck to order and when i fired it back up everything seemed normal. Then i started driving and it has very low power. untill 2500rpms. and when i say low power it took 2 miles to get up to 65. No check engine light. and it woldn't build over 6 pounds of boost. so i took it home and let it sit a few hours and now its normal?
This happend once last fall right afer i shut the truck off and started it up. and i hooked it up to the scanner and it threw a few codes that i can't rember but one if them was for the wastgate. and low boost. Not sure whats wrong mabey its sticking or somthing. any help or ideas would be appricated thanks |

Sounds like water to me. Mine did more or less exactly the same thing..run OK for a while, then wouldn't go above 2000, then run OK...I drained the water separator like 10 times, and it would run a little better for a while...like 10 minutes...I finally changed the filter and before dropping in the new one I drained the bowl completely, poured in some water dispersant (Power service), let that drain out, then filled the bowl to near the top with 50/50 mix of fuel power and fresh diesel. Now it runs 100%. So, I'd do this with yours. The filter can look just fine, but be saturated with water. Water builds every second the truck runs, as the warm return line fuel hits the cold tank and...condensation results.. |
