What is the oil level, how long ago was the last oil change, have you ever replaced the cps (cam position sensor). Have you checked the oil level in the HPOP (high pressure oil pump). That is where I would be starting to look at first. By the way it sounds it is the cps though. Did you get an engine light, if it did come on have you checked the codes yet.

By the way welcome to the site.

I checked the oil and tran level they are ok the only light is the Engine symbol and not sure that its just because the engine shuts down and I havn't checked the codes it was just like the fuel shut off I was told low oil or oil pressure might do that. I had checked in the eng compt and under the truck and saw no leaks but when loaded on the tow truck some fresh oil on the dust cover in drivers wheel well. 59,000 miles the dealer said there is 100,000 mile 5year drive train that will cover me with $100 deductable. sounds like the CPS is a problem for these trucks could you tell me a little more about what they are

Thanks for all your help Gedor

it kinda sounds like you have water in the fuel how long before that did you fill up?

Iv'e used 1/2 tank on this fill but the water light did not come on and I have replaced the fuel filter already and was about to do it again but it would have to be cloged now!!! and not going out slowly. when I restarted it, it runs fine and it is like turning off the valve and no fuel.

For a 7.3 the Cam Position Sensor is the most likely cause. You can get one for as little as 50-75 bucks. I would try there first, and if that's not it you will have the peace of mind knowing that you have a "good" CPS in the truck. Keep the old one if it isn't bad, throw it out if it is.
