Question No power

I have a 01 F350 and it starts great but has very little power until it warms up, and then it will not pull anything and takes a long time to get up to 70mph. You can forget going anywhere until the engine warms up (creeper gear may get me around, but that is it).
When it is warm, the tach will go over 2K RPM, but it takes a long time to get there and then it starts to blow blue smoke. It stops blowing smoke when the tach goes below 2K.
I do not hear the turbo, so that may be part of my problem. Everything appears to be hooked up and I think the turbine is spinning (it is hard to tell).
It seems to run fine other than that.
The check engine light is on but I can not tell what it is for.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
thank you,

if the turbo is not spinning thats a problem, there should be a slight whine under load of the turbo is spooling, check by removing the intake hose with the engine off of course feel the spool it should spin very free if not thats your acceleration problem. if the check light is on start there.it might lead you there. good luck, erich
