Slight Miss

Went to dinner tonight and the truck was running real strong on the way there, it was a lot of fun. Finished up and started home and as soon as I started it, there was a very noticeable miss. I've noticed a slight miss at idle before, but its always gone away real quick. I knew as soon as I started it that this was different, the whole truck was shaking. No lights were on, and it was fine until the next stop where it was still slightly missing. I started off and it was still fine, but i could feel the miss while driving at lower RPMs in 4th and 5th. The truck never fully warmed up either direction as it wasn't a far drive.

The truck has 79k on it. I've only had it for 8 months and 11k miles, but and have changed the oil every 5k with valvoline synthetic. I always run power service at every fillup. The only thing that changed was I found about a quart of new oil in a gallon container from my last change that I put in it before I left since it was in the lower part of the crosshatch on the dipstick.

Is this a failing CPS, or injector at only 79k? How and what all can I check? Like I said, it hasn't thrown a CEL or anything. This is my first diesel so I'm still a rookie. I know my way around gas engines, have owned several, but I'll need explanations on diesel.

Is there ANY white smoke when you first start it up(hot or cold)?

Try and get it hooked up to an AE scan tool and run an injector buzz test and a cylinder contribution test. I have a miss in mine that comes and goes. I found my #3 injector sometimes misses. I have no codes ot CEL's. I bought an AE thats how i found out about this. If i dump a can of sea foam into my tank it clears up my injectors for a while. I'm not saying 100% its injectors in your case, but i'm just telling you about my experiences with mystery misses.

No smoke at all on startup or while running.

Where do you get the AE scan tool? Are they expensive?

I bought my AE at itpdiesel.com. I think now power hungry performance sells them too. I think they are around $350 bucks.
