I have a 02 f250. Recently a small problem has gotten a little larger. When driving at low mph 30- my truck puts out a large amount of white/gray smoke. This also really comes out when stopping and letting off of the accelerator. This last weekend I took it to a small town ford dealership who told me that the turbo was bad. They said the gaskets were bad and there was alot of play in the shaft. Telling me also it would be a 2500 dollar repair made me eekkk.. 1400 for the turbo. This is a truck that I am most likely going to be getting rid of soon and dont want to put that kind of money into. plus if i would spend that much for a turbo i'd go aftermarket. Two questions was the diagnosis correct and second is there any problems buying a turbo from a salvage yard i found for 375 with a 90 day warranty?? Any help would be wonderful!!! thanks
