Oil Leak

Ok, so I've been reading on some of the HPOP/HPOP O-ring threads and did some looking around.

Excuse the poor quality camera phone pics.

Below you can see the oil pooling behind the HPOP




Under the end plug was dry.




Under these two lines, it was dry but showed signs of leakage.




I'm going to end up doing the O-rings but without seeing where it's leaking from, where else should I look for leaks? I checked all around the engine the best I could while it was running but saw no leaks.

check the plugs up by the valve covers.they've been known 2 vibrate loose.

Right on the bottom of the hpop where the 2 lines come out there is a small plug. Its really hard to see without a mirror. It is a non serviceable plug. That is another place they will leak. If it is there you have to replace the pump.

Should I get in there with some engine degreaser and then re-evaluate afterwards?

Got in there with some degreaser. I'll check it out tomorrow and see if I can find the leak.

hey budha ,also keep an eye on the plugs on the top side of the heads where alot of people install the crossover hose. beene known to vibrate loose and fill the valley w/ oil.

Got it somewhat clean - valley dried out, HPOP fittings cleaned. Drove it/ran the engine for a while. The valley is still dry and the HPOP is dry as well.

It appears the lower boots (intake manifold to valve covers) are saturated and this seems to be where the oil is coming from. I'll keep an eye on it, it's not too bad of a leak but it's there. CCV mod here I come.

WAHT WAS THE OUTCOME OF THIS? Mine is leaking pretty badly also noticed that 2 days ok. i looked at it and oil was pooled in the valley also. Its leaking from somewhere up top (99 7.3) and how hard is it to get in there and look around?
