Noise????????
I'm having a problem with my truck. When my truck is cold I have a strange noise when i let off the accelerator. It almost sounds like a transbrake. It sounds like it is coming from the air box. Once the truck is warm if iI shut it down and let it sit for a 1/2 hour or so the problem is gone? Fire it up in the morning and its back? Truck seems to be running fine otherwise. Its a 96 f250 with 118212 miles. Any help would be great.
Thanks Martin |

It is probably the Exhaust Backpressure Valve that aids in warm-up during cold weather. Look under the intake duct going into the turbo, you will se a 2 wire plug mounted to the compressor housing. The wires should be white with pink stripe and a black with purple stripe. Disconnect it and crank it when cold to see if the noise goes away.

Yes, you can leave it disconnected for now on, but if you feel you need the warm-up aid in the winter, just plug it back up. At least you will know what is making that sound.

I would say you just got some very good advice, and most likely the correct answer to your question. The only thing I have to add is:
