Cranks but won't start.

Hi there everyone. I am new to the site and was hoping to get some insight to my problem. I have a 2000 e450 with the 7.3 powerstroke diesel. After sitting for most of the winter I tried to start it and found the batteries were getting weak. It did start however but barely. I bought two new batteries and replaced them. It cranked over much faster and started right up but acted kind of funny. As I recall the OD light on the shifter know started flashing and when I revved up the engine and kicked in the turbo it ran really rough and smoked a lot. Not black smoke though. I thought that maybe the computer needed to reset itself or something so I decide to take it for a test drive. Bad idea. It seemed to be lacking power and shifting strangely. I got no more than 2 miles from my house and it just died completely like it was just shut off. Now it just cranks but will not start. I replaced the CPS but it did nothing. I checked the fuel pressure coming out of the electric fuel pump and it runs right at 100 PSI. Does anyone have any ideas what else I should do? I could really use dome help. Thanks

the od light flashing is a code for a trans problem, is the engine runing fine? just shifting problems, have you checked your trans fluid levels, also could be "garage shift" when it sits for so long fluid gets out of the torque convertor

The truck does not run at all now. I still have not figured out why. I am charging the batteries then I am going to change the fuel filter and start doing some more tests I guess.

I have a suggestion for you clean all the ground wires you can find and dieelectric grease all the electrical connections under the hood and under the dash as well not sure its the problem but it cant hurt. On a side note be careful seperating the conections some of the locking tabs get brittle and break easy. hope this helps

Thanks for the suggestion. I am hoping to get some time to work on it tonight again. All this electronic BS is a real pain. Hopefully we will find something soon.
