2003 7.3 will not rev over 2000 RPM's
Had this engine in for an oil leek and before they were done, I had the truck towed back to the house to finish the work myself. They thought the rear main seal was leaking, replaced it. It still leaked: They said that oil was leaking from the waste valve, fixed that: still had a leak. In the end, it was the gasket on the HPOP. However, now when I start the engine it will not rev past 2000 rpm's.
Any Ideas of what they might have forgot to hook up or broke? |

Are you sure you torqued the bolt that holds the drive gear onto the pump tight enough? That's a straight shaft on the pump with no keyway and no taper. The gear could be slipping. 95 ft.lbs. is the torque specs.

I did torque it to 95 ft.lbs. However, I will take the cover off and re-torque it to make sure.
Thanks for the fast reply. |

Still no power
I have all the oil leaks fixed now. If I could just get the power back, life would be good.
The engine purrs idling. However, if I drive it down the road, The lack of power is obvious and 2000 to 2100 is the max's on rpm's. To me, it sounds like it is starving for air and at 2000 rpm's I get a moderate amount of white smoke. HPOP gear torque at 95 ft.lbs I have not checked the impeller on the turbo yet to make sure it is turning free. No sign of leeks on the boots. And I cannot check for error codes so, the ford shop may be my next best bet$$$ |

this may be a stupid response but if it feels like its starving for air, check all your boots, maybe they took one off for repairs and forgot to reattach. also it was a completely different engine but i had a harness plug come undone and had same results, check all connections there.
