during hard acceleratioin the engine makes a horn type sound

While driving under a hard acceleration the engine makes a horn type sound like air escaping from somewhere. Onl;y does it while driving not while in park. I checked the soft hoses attaching all the aluminum tubes the seem to be ok where do i go from here?

Could be a loose, leaking, or blown off intercooler boot and/or possibly your wastegate opening. Do you have a boost gauge installed so you are able to monitor at what boost level the noise starts? Are you experiencing any power loos?

first thanks for replying. I dont have a boost gauge as for power loss its seems minimal I checked the boots at the top of the engine and at the intercooler they seem to be ok

its definatly when under greater boost pressure it happens around 2000-2500 rpms but oonly wtih hard acceleration not in park or normal driving

Are you running a chip or tuner?

It might be a good idea to create a signature with your mods/upgrades. Other ORG members will be more willing to respond to your post if they know a little more about your truck.

Thanks again I just signed up[ for this site about an hour ago gonna put up info when i figure it out! no tuner or chip just a stock truck for most part

Check your MAP Sensor hose for leaks, blockage, or disconnection. How old is your oil? Old oil or the wrong oil can cause poor injector performance. Refer to your manual for the correct application. I would check air intake filter is clean and intake system for restrictions. Also I would check the fuel filter to make sure it is clean.

If you do not know when these items were serviced last I would consider doing a basic tune-up.

You can further diagnose the problem once these ares of concern have been eliminated.

Mine just started doing the same thing. Sounds like the noise is coming from the passenger side under the hood. I just changed the oil, fuel and air filters.
