Snapped a rod or two..

As was mentioned briefly in the thread discussing PMR and forged rods. My 2001 (build date 9/00)decided it didn't like PMR's anymore and promptly spit them out. Back side of the block on both sides has holes. So, most likely both heads took a hit also. Right now I have leads on a couple of 99's with around 100,000 miles for decent prices. Per-CSIPSD's comment on the tune I will most likely change that out and I might throw ARP headstuds on it, since it will be on the engine stand and easy to do. Any other recommendations are appreciated also..

What kind of mods and how much power are you putting down?

Also you might consider upgrading valve springs and perhaps push rods while you're at it. Sorry to hear of the troubles, but you know the saying... When you break it, it's just an excuse to build it better...

For some reason my sig. didn't show on my initial post. 4in. exhaust, AFE cold-air, ATS turbo housing, 6.0L intercooler, Snow water/meth, Edge tuner..

Yeah, I will most likely change to a custom setup for the tune. I've dealt with high EGT's from the start with the Edge tune. I pull a 44ft enclosed trailer and deal with some pretty good sized hills/mountains depending on where I'm going to race, hence the water/meth. It's helped with the temps, but I still usually have to back out of it on some of the big hills. Plans down the road are probably going to be the GTP38R turbo, upgrading the fuel system, and a tune to compliment them.. Unless, of course someone can talk me into a different route..

I guess I hadn't heard of any issues with the stock springs and pushrods. Dodge has Smarty, Duramax boys are using EFI Live. Whats the current hot tuning setup for the Powerstrokes right now? Since it will need a custom tune..

50/50 blend of fresh methanol and distilled water, w/dual nozzles(can't remember what size, I'd have to look) I ran it like that for a year and a half.
