Light comes on; no accelerator pedal response

Lately my 2002 7.3 will show engine light and no accelerator response. Engine does not die though. I can pump pedal a few times, then normal, then back to problem. Any suggestions?

Throttle position sensor. If it goes bad, or the PCM sees no signal from it, it will allow only idle. Check wiring. Pull codes, if that is it, replace.

Thank you for your post. About how much is a throttle position sensor? Where is it? And is it something I can change out myself? (I am pretty mechanically inclined)

agreed , thats probably your problem, the tps is mounted on the pedal assembly
