Home made diesel problem
Hey guys my brother started making bio diesel with oil for his 12v and of course he is selling it to me cheap for my 7.3. Well lately I was running it close to about 90% of our own and 10% from the gas station. While running our own diesel it seemed to blow more black smoke and some a little blueish. Sometimes it takes a few more seconds to start and it idles low until it catches up. Anyone else experience this? It might be the cold this week it was fine before when it was warmer but its a little colder now and my brothers started slow too. Im just wondering what would cause the blue smoke? I put some more diesel in from the station and it starts fine now, maybe it was a little thicker since its about 75 this week and not 90. Any input appreciated

is it bio diesel or vegi oil? I know vegi oil is generally to thick to start and stop the truck on.

He makes it with vegi oil from the local restaurant. From what ive gathered from some buddies, its just the way his fuel is: a lower than normal rpm idle for a few seconds after starting until it catches up, and a little blue smoke, and also there is more black smoke than using normal fuel. Once its running it runs fine idles normal its just like that first 4 or 5 seconds it idles really low. I put some more regular fuel in last night, it started normal today and less black smoke and like no blue. I was told maybe there is more black smoke because its not burning all the fuel, same concept as a chip

Your fuel may not be burning as efficiently since it is smoking more. A chip actaully sends more fuel, or too much so it doesn't all get burnt=smoke, where your still sending the same amount as normal but less is getting burnt=smoke...Just a thought?

Been PMing with him. It is not bio diesel he is referring to. He is running a blend of oil, and 4 other ingredients. That helped clear it up for me. I was somewhat "lost" at first because it sounded nothing like bio diesel.
