p0500 code in 2001 ford f-250

hey everybody i've got a 2001 ford 3/4 ton. on my way home from work i fueled up and on my way out of town my speedo quit working my abs light came on and shotly after my OD light started flashing. So i checked the codes with my diablo sport and it had a p0500 code. I went to napa changed the rear speed sensor didn't fix the problem. I did a continuity test on the rear wiring harness all good there. so my next guess is in the input output turbine sensors the tuner reads rpms on both of them. i went to a local shop and we put a scanner on my truck and we couldn't communicate with the abs module. So i checked for power on pin 14 and i had power there. so i changed the module.well that didn't do anything still have no speedo and the abs and od light are still on.anybody have any ideas.

There are also two speed sensors up front. One in each wheel bearing... abs sensors... if one of those are bad it can throw things off.

Do you have a superlift truespeed or anything else to mess with the VSS signal?

i dont have a superlift truespeed or anything that would mess with the signal from the vss. what do you think could cause the abs module to not communicate.

Is there anyone nearby that has AE. They can monitor the speed signal from each sensor. Then you can nail it down.

Output shaft speed sensor on your tranny, it's on top near the output shaft

I missed the part of the ABS not communicating. However the speedo prob. I think is the output shaft speed sensor, which will also make your OD light flash

any rear end noise? With the loss of communication to the ABS system, and loss of speedo I have seen the rear end fail due to wiped bearings shortly after a po500 popped up.

sorry guys ive been at work for over a month now i just got home.my diablo sport reads rpms on both the input and output shaft sensors. i will take my truck to the local shop and monitor the sensors with there tool.the rear end doesn't make any noise. im just lost with the whole abs module not communicating thing. i might try to trace the wires from the abs module to the pcm.does anybody know which wire that would be.thanks for your replies

One of the wires is under the air box in the wire loom. I think it is grey with a black stripe.
