A wheel bearing could affect the steering if it is going out.

X2!

On a side note about-To check for play, I had one of my sons (9) sit in the drivers seat with the steering wheel unlocked and had him turn it back and forth. I wound up having play in my steering box which has since been remidied with a Red-Head.

Are the hub bearing assemblies on the early 99's differant? The ebay ads look like they are for 3/99 and later

In my opinion, one of the best mods I've ever done to my truck. You can call them and talk to Harvey, he'll tell you everything he does to his box to make them that way.

1 - all prep stuff (e-brake, jack, jack stands, etc)
2 - Remove wheel
3 - remove c-ring for hub locker
4 - remove hub locker
5 - remove c-clip and washers (inside the hub, behind the hub locker)
6 - Remove caliper, bracket, pads, and rotor disconnect abs wire (if equipped)
7 - there are 4 bolt studs behind the hub, remove all four (may need to move the axle a little to get better access to the nuts
8 - once studs are removed, pull hub off
9 - I used a wire brush to clean everything up before installing the new
10 - install in reverse

If you have any questions while you're doing it (just did mine 2 weeks ago), PM me and I'll send you my cell number to help you
Other than the method shown to pull the lock out hub. is the process the same for the 05 up trucks?

I am new here and haven't posted anything yet but I just replaced my hub assembly on my 2000 f350 and it was the easiest front bearings that I have ever done. I bought mine at autopartsdirecttoyou.com. They offer a good warranty and were less than $200.00 each. I also purchased a vacuum pump from them that was broken when I got it, I called and they sent a new one out that day. They told me to throw the other one away. Just some thoughts.

Also my locking hubs were froze up as well. Warn Premium are great.
