if your willing to have your 4WD not work, and i assume you are since your considering swapping to 2WD.... then you dont need your U joints, hubs to work good. they dont turn when your in 2WD, you could even unbolt your front driveline to ensure they are not turning... as long as your wheel bearings are good you should be fine for driving in 2WD

Ok everyone… I changed out the pieces needing replaced (both u-joints, both needle bearings, and locking hubs) and drove the truck for the first time in 2 weeks. A few of the installs were a little harder than they needed to be (couldn’t get the lockers on easy due to the axle teeth were a little messed up). All in all I ended up dropping $70.00 on u-joints, $122.50 on pair of locking hubs, $35.00 on pair of needle bearings, and $500.00 to Ford on the diesel leaks…… The baby is back on the road and the wife’s gums have stopped… for now
