ya youll get a better feel, but if they are bad enough to need replaced, they should rock around when the truck is on the ground.

I also had a rubbing sound in my column before i replaced the gearbox. about 800 miles and havent heard it so far. You might actually have a couple issues going on. But it sure does sound like my problem.

So I jacked the front tires of the ground and on the drivers side , when grabbing the tire at the 10 &2 positions and shaking the tire moved quite a bit with some clunking noise. Also put a pry bar under the tire and lifted up and got some play and clunking. Did the same to the passenger tire and everything was tight, no play or clunking.

So this sounds like bad ball joints and a wheel bearing on the drivers side right? If so would i need to replace the passenger side bearing an b-joints as well? I hoped that this wasn't goin to be the issue. It sounds like a $$$ fix.

may just be either ball joints or wheel bearing. Try having someone help you and watch the ball joint boots when they move the wheel. If your ball joints are loose, replace them first, then if you still have a problem replace the wheel bearing as necessary.

Well i looked at it a little better last night and had someone watch the ball joints and tie rod ends while i moved the tire and the balljoints didn't budge, but the tie rod ends were shot. They had alot of play in them. I think i'm going to fix that issue first and see if that cures it before jumping into b-joints. I'd hate to pay for ball joints if the fix was simply tie rod ends

i bet that fixes it. same symptoms as a loose gearbox. If that doesnt fix it and you wanna jump into ball joints, prepare to replace all ball joints at once, and use high quality parts. let us know how it turns out
