The metal ring goes round the seal on the shaft. Hmmm that didn't explain it very well. I'll try again. When you take the hub off & the wheel bearing out you can grab hold of the shaft. When you take the shaft out of the axle the metal ring holds the seal in so you need to hook it out before taking the shaft out. Then you have to put the ring back into the seal. I don't remember exactly as it was a while ago. I have to do the other side soon though.

i asked if he could put the seal on the axel for me and next thing i know he had it done but he had the right seal driver do it only took a min so how do you get parts for your truck?
