Question Rear axle seal and differential question?

Just replacing rear axle seal. Not sure what floating axle means. Do bearings need packed with grease or does diff. oil lubricate bearings. Also, what axle diff. do I have. Axle code is D1, TR is 6, Spr is XB. Diff. #'s are 6 409 9, or 3L73105 8189. Can you help me with these numbers. Also, the seal exploded and there is a 4 slotted washer that looks like it came out of the seal. Or is it actually a washer that needs to back on axle?

you got a sterling 10.5 limited slip axle, with 3.73 gearing. Use 75w/140 synthetic. I replaced my seal last year and allowed the fluid to "pack" it. Others will pack the bearing with grease. I didnt in fear of cross contaminating. You can fillthe bearing cavity, seal up the axle and call it good, or for good measure, replace/install everything then park the rear tire in the gutter, allowing the fluid to travel to that area....
