2000 F350 Squeaky clutch linkage

Ever since I bought my 2000 F-350, the clutch system has a squeak when pushing or releasing the pedal. My mechanic traced it down to something in the bell housing. He guessed maybe the shift fork but he doesn't have much experience with diesel trucks (he only works on gas). Is there a common point that causes squeaking related to the clutch slave cylinder or fork on these trucks? It's not a high-pitch squeak, it's sort of hard to explain.

I got bored waiting for a response, so rolled under the truck and had a look. After pulling out the clutch slave cylinder, I had the wife slowly push on the clutch pedal. The squeak was coming from inside the slave cylinder. I noticed there was a little grease in there, so pushed the piston all the way back and gently put a little white lithium grease next to the piston with a screwdriver and then let the piston back out. After putting it back together, no more squeak and the pedal felt smooth. This probably isn't a long term fix and the grease may have a reaction with the piston seal, but it'll work for now. The cylinder will get replaced.
