auto locking hubs to manual hub quick question. please help

first off, im new here and i apoligize for the long post. i have 01 f250 7.3. it came with AUTO locking hubs. i just recently discovered my hubs were shot. my passenger side hub was always locked spinning my front drive shaft even in 2wd. and when i removed the driver side i found numerous peices of plastic laying inside there and the hub came out in 2 peices and then the spring, whereas my passenger side came out in one whole peice.

my question is, i have my mind set on going with WARN manual locking hubs, probably the premium ones. and i was all set to order them until the guy at my local napa suggested i have to get a hub conversion kit. so i did a little research and to my understanding the 5 bolt auto hubs you DO NOT need the conversion kit, and the 3 bolt hub you DO need the conversion kit which consists of a spindle bolt i believe? how do i know if i have the 5 bolt or the 3 bolt? i looked, and the hubs i removed i couldnt see any bolts at all, just a big clip i squeezed to remove and i pulled the hub out.

any one who has any knowledge on this is greatly appreciated, as im running my truck without the hubs in it now. and i am hoping to order them tomorrow.

if anyone is curious, the hubs are 317$ and the conversion kit is like 120 bucks from my local napa. i personally think its a little high, but i need them quick.

thanks in advance.

if it helps this is what my CURRENT hubs look like.

first off you dont need a conversion kit.
and 317 dollars is outrageous!
most places online sell them for 220-250.
also make sure you cap the vacuum lines that run to the hubs.
and also cap the fitting on the hub itself so stuff doesn't get in there.

ive also heard good things about mile marker hubs. they are 154 on xdp.com
and you can use the code diesel5 for 5% off.
or try diesel10 for 10% off it might still work.

That's a rip off. All they are is regular old Dana 60 lock outs. Should be in the low 200s at NAPA. We put a set in my dads 00 350 a while back after his 3rd one broke.

Converted my 2001 over to manual hubs and were less than $200 on amazon.

ya i understand there priced a little high, it helped a little that i got a volunteer fire fighter discount which got me down to 275. but like i said i need them quick as i am currently running the truck with the hubs removed, because one of them was broken into 3 peices, and found little peices of plastic inside.

so as far as the HUB CONVERSION kit, does anyone know what it actually consists of? i am totally confused, as everyone at the parts stores is giving me different answers. i mean i even called my local ford dealership this afternoon and the guy had no idea what i was talking about, and mentioned something about having to shave down the WARN manual hubs to fit?? never heard that one, so one more thing i may need to look into.

appreciate all replies so far. more info is greatly appreciated.

thanks
mike

For regular type hubs no conversion is needed, just remove the stock plastic hubs and install the warn ones. Idk about the premium version.
