A very slight shudder would start in the front and because of the banking it would amplify through the truck until it caused the LSD to join in. After two days, I got where I didn't even want to take that turn. |

What you guys are saying about the LSD seems to make sense. My '02 F-250 7.3 Just started doing it a couple weeks ago. Here's my question: how critical do you guys think it is to get it corrected? I plan on fixing it, but as this truck is my daily driver, can I wait a few weeks before doing any permanent damage?

Slip lock or just some Friction addative in the differintial
Quote:
All I did was add some Friction addative into the rear differential. Parked'r sidways on a hill/slope with the fill bolt on the uphill side, took the bolt out and added the 4oz of slip lock in and even thought it still does it from time to time........it is very minimal........(continued to decrease in frequency over about the first 200miles after I put the addative in). I think I will change the fluid all together soon and put in some good synthetic in and see if that gets rid of it all together(I only notice it like once a week now and that may be just because I am atuned to it now and actualy look for it and notice it even when it justbarley does it?)...........but I would try the friction addative as it is cheap and easy B Last edited by CentralOregon : 06-05-2008 at 06:42 PM. |

Not sure, but I also replaced the main trans valve body(several months later) with a BTS custom unit and a transgo plate(comes with the BTS unit) and that seemd to help also(shifts a whole lot nicer too). I read a lot of differnet fixes for similar issues on this one, just glad the simple & cheap one was what worked for me. |

My 02 Ex has had the same problem. The chatter becomes more pronounced after driving a while. Additive did not help much. I will try to change fluid.... getting a suction tube in there is futile so i will open the cover and take a look inside while I'm there. Still waiting on a gasket though. Fingers are crossed on just needing a fluid change with a little addtive.

Well, I opened the cover and changed out the fluid. I put additive in and still notice the problem after the truck is real warm with highway driving. The grabbing is not as bad since the fluid change which leads me to believe the LSD Clutches may be warn a little. My question is this: If I can live with the shudder, am I doing damage to anything else? The previous owner had the same problem and drove it for over 50 thousand miles. |

Like I said in the start of this post the drive shaft slip yoke is the number one culprit for the rear end "shudder under load" and "shudder under turn at speed." Lube it often guys, that blue coating Ford uses sucks when it's dry. |
