I am planning on doing this, just have not gotten to it yet.
This helped, but did not fix the problem. Now it only seems to shudder when turning to the right, is worse when it has been rolling for a while (all warmed up) and is the worst when under load like turning right up a steep hill.

I also Put amsoil in and Ford Additive. Driving around town no problem but after Hwy driving(warmed up) it will still do it. Not as bad but still there. Now that I have the edge in I am also noticing Drive line vibrations when I get on it alittle from a dead stop. Im only using he second setting. Noticable but notbad. Im not sure if they are related or a different problem all together.

I just bought a 96 and I have noticed a shimmer in a tight turn. I'm thinking hubs. Warn has manual locking hub and I'm thinking there many be benifits in gas milage, wear and tear along with elemitating the shimmer.

We are talking about shimmy from the rear of the Truck. Mine is still there. Vibrates bad when I have a heavy foot and after it warms up. vibs on slow turns. Slow exel and running along are no problem, smooth as glass. Again Vib in the drive line or rear, not front wheels. Every mechanic around here is lost on the cause. I have heard everything from the tourque Converter to the rear end but when I ask, " that will fix it , right?" All say Duhhh..there is no guaranty but its where I would start. Id give a million dollars for one local mechanic with an IQ over 50, No offense to the ones on here. Hmm one million dollars or go to ford and pay them the 75 an hour blood money. Off to ford.

Mine was doing it last week. I have heard it called the "death shake". I checked my steering linkage and found a very small (< 64th) amount of slack in the connecting tie rod at the pitman arm. I changed it out and problem fixed.

That small amount was allowing a shudder to set up that went all of the way through the rear end.

And this got worse when the rig was warmed up, and worse yet when under load and turning?

I will check it out, but I don't think this is the same animal?

I am interested to hear back after Ford takes a look to see what our issue is, as your description of what is going on is exactly the same as mine. I am supprised non of the Ford mechanics on here have offered any specifics or suggestions. I am scheduled to take a lengthy trip soon and want to get this stuff figured out before I go?

I have the same problem also. Mine is turning left at a complete stop. It shakes around the wheel. It gets worse when i engage the hubs for 4x4. when in 4x4 it shakes worse. I had some snow in STL and needed to get around when i noticed it.

This sounds more like the ball joints or wheel bearings up front, but I am far from an expert on the subject.

The shutter you are getting is likely clutch chatter from the limited slip rearend. The only true fix is to replace the clutches in the rearend. I beleive there is a TSB on this problem. I had the same problem with my 02. Ford recommends soaking the new clutches in their additive before installation. I followed their procedure and have had no problem since.
