Vibration-Then Roaring Vibration

2002 F250 4x4 CC
As I casually gain speed at around 35mph I feel a light vibration, if I get on the throttle agressively it is not as bad. As I get on the interstate casually gaining speed at around 55mph I get a bad roaring vibration if I get on the throttle harder it isn't as bad but still roaring vibration, if I let off a little to maintain speed or slow down slowly it gets real bad roaring vibration, if I completly let off throttle to slow down quickly no roaring vibration. While in between 55mph and 75mph and holding a steady throttle I can make the vibration worse and the roar "talk" by by playing with the throttle. I have read the 12 pages of driveline problems and there is alot of problems similar to mine but none that has the exact same symptoms. Any feed back will be appreciated. Thanks.

Shane

hmm.... It sounds like the exact same thing that's going on with mine...

So, when you're driving and you let off the throttle it goes away? Same as mine, but does it come back when the torque convertor unlocks? Mine does.

Free bump 4 ya too.

How many miles on the rig?

one more thing, where do you feel the vibration most? On the floor by the pedals? (you can't feel it on the right side of the truck on mine)

I feel like it's the TC, (on both our trucks)but I don't know, I'm not a mechanic

I can't tell, it feels like the whole truck. The vibration has gotten worse, I can see it in my mirrors. I also noticed this weekend that when I have my 4wheeler in the back of my truck and I hit a dip in the road I get a little rub sound, it is not my truck bottoming out it almost sounds like my carrier bearing. I have gotten under my truck and with a little effort I can crush the rubber surrounding the bearing. Hoping someone has a clue.

I just had this vibration in my truck and it kept getting a little worse. I thought it was the center support bearing on my rear driveshafts so I ordered one from the dealership. When I recieved the bearing I took my driveshafts out only to find that my rear u-joint was the problem. Now I have a brand new bearing that I cant use and cant return. You may want to check the bearing and u-joints in your truck. If you do need a bearing I will sell this one cheap.

i think i have the same issue too. it comes and goes with the throttle. i dont have any play in the rear driveline at all so is there a possibility that my u-joins could still be bad??? wil that cause a noise??

rwalker, my noise to a T is described by the throttle, if I am off the pedal totally, and the TC is locked, no noise. As soon as I get back on nit slightly, it starts making the racket again. I tried injecting grease into the carrier bearing, no change. The noise is LOUD. radio will not drown it out at this point.

It's been to a couple of shops, and they have told me it's the diff, but they just drove it, and did not look at it (refused to mess with it)

Sounds like a gear howel from the rear end. If you can play with the throttle and the noise comes and goes.
