If it was a rearend howel then when I let off of the throttle the rearend would still be turning and would still make the noise right. It also is not just a roaring noise it is total truck vibration. I hadn't fixed it because it all started after i started taking my truck in the mud on my deer lease, now that deer season is over it is a top priority. I'm thinking it is u-joints, but if I'm doing one I'm going to do all. Any suggestions on best name brands or places to purchase would be helpful. The very back one has a grease fitting on it but none of the others do. I would prefer to buy all with grease fittings. Thanks

yeah, thats what it does. no throttle, no noise, light throttle then noise. i get mine at 65 to 70 mph. its strange, it will come and go with throttle pressure. its very irritating and i dont know how to get it to go away.

rwalker, If you have a lot of load on throttle (picking up speed fast) is it as bad? Mine is barely noticeable when gaining speed fast, it is when I'm maintaining speed or gradually gaining speed, or gradually slowing down that it vibrates and roars. If I release pedal completely it's gone. Today is Friday I'm going to try to order ujoints so I can change next weekend, if that fixes I will get back with you. Big Country says his was like this and he changed just back ujoint and fixed.

Check the ujoints this will cause it it for sure. You may not be able to tell by just crawling underneath and checking the drive shafts you may have to jack it up and get all the pressure off it to find the culprit if it is a joint or a bearing. Good luck

I was hoping for some input on ujoints but I will pass by Autozone tonight and see if they have grease fittings in theirs and will probably change them not this weekend but next and I will reply to this thread and tell if that fixes it.

i went to a performance shop today and had them look at my truck. they told me i needed to shim my rear pinion up and readjust my carrier bearing. they said they have dealt with this issue before ( since they drove it and heard the same noise i was talking about ) and are 99 % sure it is a drivetrain issue. i just dont have 300 to drop on thier labor and parts.

I went to advanced auto the other day and they had the rear u-joint in stock. It has the grease fitting and only cost $11.00.

if you are gonna replace your u-joints then from what i have heard, Spicer u-joints are real good. mine has them in it now from the factory. i dont want to replace parts without knowing they are bad thats why i havent done the u-joints myself.
