weird "thunk" noise
Hey guys. So Ive been hearing/ feeling a "thunk" noise coming from under my truck. I cant seem to pin point exactly where it is but it sounds and feels like its coming from the front drivers side, i can feel it in the floor. from stop or really slow speeds >5 mph I can start accelerating and then you can hear "thunk" and then its fine until i almost come to a stop then "thunk". Ive tried shaking and pulling on just about everything in the front end. Im stumped!
Truck info is in my sig. Thanks! |

Mine has been doing it too. I have almost the exact same package you do Spoolin. It's been doing it for a bit now and today my hub assembly started grinding really bad. Same thing it did four months ago when it disintegrated on me. Thank goodness for warranty! The noise might be your hub..... Idk.....

Look at this.
Search: Member heykerrdog, or clunk, thud, bump, spline grease job. My truck was doing the same thing at low speed. Like the drive train was catching up at a stop and start. I was thinking the trans was lose and gettin' ready to fall out. I greased the spline on the drive shaft and no more clunk. I tried to link the post before but it did not work, that's why I say do a search. hope this helps. Clunk, Thud, Bump, Double Bump, Spline Grease Job bax I |

@ maddawg, I changed my hubs back in october. the drivers side decided it needed to eat itself coming off the highway, at 50 mph it locked up a 37x13.5 tire... exciting. but i dont think itd be the hubs, its a thunk not a grind.
@ Bax, Im gonna start here. ive been around these trucks for quite a while and ive never heard of this problem but i read thru that whole thread and it seems to me like its a pretty popular problem. looks like i know what im doing this weekend! thanks again guys. |
