Please Help
2001 F-350 7.3L powerstroke 4x4 manual transmission 180K miles Today while towing a Boat my truck started to slip and was making bad noises After disconnecting the boat I was still was not able to drive Please let me know what you guys think, went wrong with my powertrain |

Need more of a description. "Bad noises" doesn't really help much.

when the engine is transferring power to the drive shaft it makes grinding type of sound as something is not fully engaged and it's slipping I hope this helps Thanks again Mark |

Well the only thing that can slip in a standard transmission is the clutch. I'd say you probably need a clutch. I'd go with a new southbend replacement. Just have your flywheel cut and save yourself a little money rather than buying a whole kit. Should be about $40 to get it turned.

Can clutch go all of a sudden?
there was no slipping before Also should I be able to drive allowing slow transition between gears? (I'm not able to do that) Thank You |
