Found 2 teeth!
Changed the front differential oil today. In the bottom of the hogs head I found two teeth. The teeth came from one of the small gears that are turned by the ring gear and that turn the axle gears. I think they are called the planetary gears????
Either way they are the gears between the ring gear and the axle. Whats the best option from here. I went ahead and changed the oil and sealed everything back up. Should I not use 4x4, I dont think it will hurt cuz if crap hits the fan I just go back to 4x2....right? What do yall suggest as a fix. |

sounds like you chipped off a couple of spider gears. personally i wouldnt worry about it. the worst that can happen is it breaks and then you can fix it then if anything. and even if it does break and 4wd doesnt work you will still be able to drive around in 2wd

^^^ haha!
I wouldnt be running 4x4 any time soon. The worst i see happening is another tooth breaks off and runs through the ring and pinion. this will blow the case apart and probably make the truck undrivable. This is a worst case but obviously there is a problem that should be resolved before using it again. Since it is the front, you can drive in 2x4 till you can address the issue. Thats my opinion. |

The spider gears are easy to change and to rebuild I've done it before a lot easier than setting up new gears.
