To much play in steering!!

On my 01 f250 i have terrible steering play. i can turn it 90 degrees both ways. How can i fix this because im constantly having to drive with the wheel alomost sideways to stay in my lane or to correct something. Thanks

steering

get the steering box adjusted and go round and tighten up all the bits, ball joints worn ??

Turn the truck off, leave it in gear/park, put the e-brake on and crawl under the front end. Have a buddy shake the wheel back and forth fairly hard and watch all the tie rod and link ends. Should be pretty obvious what's wrong.

Yer Nut !!!

Check the Nut that holds the pitman arm to the steering box, bet it's loose. Mine does the same thing, has a lot of slack when the nut lossenes up.gonna buy a new steering box,, others that had the issue suggest an aftermarket box,,, buut I forgit the name of the comapny that sells the 'good one'.. RB

See message below, the Red-Head box gets a lot of high regards around Ford owners it seems------


We do have that gearbox in stock and the price is $346 exchange plus $175 on the core until we get yours back. Ours come adjusted and on center- if you feel that there is any problem please do not adjust on the gear, and just call us.
