Steering u-joints?

With hubs locked, when I turn either direction there is a binding feeling that can be felt. I am fairly settled on it is the Ujoints at the wheels. With the hubs locked there is little to no play in the drivers side, but passanger side has lots of play in all directions, i understand that there should be will be more in the right side because there is nothing to support the axle shaft at the end of the tube. I jacked up side and checked bjs for wear, no play. So is there a test I can perform to check which one is binding?? or recommended to replace both?
Thanks

With your hubs locked in, but the transfer case in 2wd turn the wheels to one side, jack up both front wheels and try to spin each one. If you have a bad joint then that wheel will be hard to spin part of the rotation.
