Auto hubs

My automatic hubs do not work. 4x4 only works when you switch the hubs to manual. It's been raining here for a couple days and buddies want to go mudding. What damage would be caused by leaving the manual hubs locked driving to and from the pits so I don't have to get out of the truck unless necessary.

Hubs locked in is OK, just don't engage the transfer case when on pavement. I leave my hubs engaged all winter and engage the transfer case when I hit snow.
