Help? abs sensor?

On a recent fishing trip return, after stopping for fuel.. my 97 f250 would not shift out of park. in order to make it home i had to turn the truck off, disconnect the batteries, turn the key, put the truck in neutral, re connect the batteries, and start the truck in neutral to be able to drive.... any ideas what could be causing this problem? would this be related to a shot rear abs sensor? plz help..

my 95 did that to me one night. it was a fuse under the hood. start there. if its blown it wont let the shift lock that works with the brake pedal operate.
