Need help with rear diff leak.......

Went out of town this weekend, and when I got back home I noticed I had a rather large puddle of diff oil under my rear diff. My truck was parked down hill all weekend. Whats going on with it, and what its going to take to fix?

Is it leaking from between the cover and pumpkin or is it seeping through the metal. Most likely, you can just pull the cover, clean the old gasket off and reseal it with RTV.

Looks like its leaking out the front where the drive shaft bolts up.

Well, I've never had this problem. I believe the seal is called the pinion seal and a search will give you some info on replacement. I would clean up the area, make sure the oil level is correct, check the vent tube from the differential for obstructions, and monitor for more leakage. Seal replacement doesn't sound like a fun job.
