popping in front end

The front end of my 96 f350 makes a funny sound when hitting washboard bumps. To me it sounds like the spring might be moving around in its mount. Ive read about similar problems in here but always 4wd, mine is 2wd. I also have a 94 f150 that makes the same sound. Also, has anyone put a lift on their 2wd? ive seen fabtech's 4in and would like to hear from anyone who has it or anyother 2wd lift. Thanks
