Steering Gearbox
Im getting ready to order a steering gearbox for my truck. Im noticing there are 2 different boxes. 32 and 36 spline shafts. 1st question is are they referring to the pitman arm shaft? 2nd, besides going out to the truck and counting, is there more of a chance that I have the 36 spline shaft? Seems like 32 isnt very popular at the places Ive looked. Thanks.

dunno where your getting your bax but we got a replacement from NAPA and it was fine. the steering shaft ended up going out later and we decided to take this one bak on warranty trying to tighten up a loose steering truck. had to hav 2 boxes ordered and neither one matched the original. everything looked the same but the 4 master splines on the pitman arm shaft where clocked wrong. the original master splines were clocked in an X with the box centered in relation to the front of the truck. the ones we got NAPA to order were in a + patern when straight. so this made the pitman arm tun all the way one way but we had to turn it all the way the other way to get the tires straight.
jus check the new box when u get it so you dont get it all put on like we did, |
