I got issues

ok I was in the middle of dusting a rice burner when I had a drive train issue

ok heres what happened I left the line in 2nd gear @1400 rpm (spun line a mofo) pulled it to redline shifted into 3rd was laughing cause I even got him off the line.. then I pulled into 4th at 3000rpm and watched the tach climb up to 3000 after i let the pedal up it reved but wasnt piicking up speed, rpm dropped to 2200 rpm like i was riding the clutch...but wasnt pulling harder untill it hit the 2200 mark then it started to pull like hell again up to 3000rpm I'm thinking clutch slippage like the clutch wasnt engauged all the way but I had my foot off the clutch 100%

If its slipping why in 4th and not 2nd or 3rd? I dont know what to think

Well I just got back from a road test if I hold it @ 2000 rpm in 4th then stomp it to the floor the clutch is definatly slipping ...will do it in 5th too.. question is do I need to be real concerned right away,it just started doing it today or can it get by if I tune it to the lower hp and torque setting untill I can get another clutch?

If I lift my foot off the clutch in 2nd at idle it grabs and moves the truck with the pedal comming off the floor only 1 1/2" to 2" .. the clutch pedal isnt comming to the top of the travel like a wore out clutch will do

What do you guys recomend for a good clutch thats not crazy in price?

it will start slipping in the higher gears

then as it wears, it will start slipping in the next lower gear and the next and so on until your truck won't move! (happened in my car!)

Chris.. where you are gonna have an issue is the fact that you tow. If it's slipping empty when you get on it hard.. it will slip without getting on it hard with the trailer behind you.

I don't know prices, but I've heard a couple of guys recomend the Luk clutches.

I just got back in the house unfortunatly I returned the truck to stock with my tuner. Guess what it aint slipping now!! I will keep it on the stock hp/tq setting till I get a new clutch in it. I need it on the fathersday weekend I have a huge show I have to be at with my 79 and its a 2 1/2 hr drive to get there. This truck needs to tow the enclosed there and back!!!

Unless I get a clutch befor then it will suck driving it every day

Actually you should be ok if you take it easy. when mine was slipping I pulled my 4x4 on a 6000 (actual weight) gooseneck from dallas to houston (4 hours) and the only time I had a problem was taking hills to fast (I hate being the slow poke up hills ). I was also pulling on the 75 setting with my TS. If you drive with a light foot I don't think you'll have any problems. Also with your tuner you might be putting down more hp than the stock clutch can hold. Returning it to stock you might not have any problems at all. I have to say though it is 600 bucks but the southbend clutch is an awesome clutch and it comes with a new flywheel, clutch disk, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and a kevlar pilot bushing.
