here we go...03 f250 front end rebuild
so i have to rebuild the front end on my f250..of course its all the main problems (ball joints, bearings, bushings...) anyway, my gearbox is shot, need ball joints and bearings, and bushings. i looked into the dynotrac kits but they seem to have the free spinning hub assembly included in the kit.
my question is, on my truck i have the manual locking hubs, on the hub itself it says FREE and LOCK. one can only assume that it already has a free spinning hub, but i do not see a brand on the hub so i am guessing it is just a stock ford hub, but is it worth getting an OEM or warn hub? does it help at all (if any)? also, ball joints...are there a decent set that does not cost $300 per ball joint (i was looking at the indestructable joints through dynotrac) The truck has an 8'' lift with 38x15.50's on it. 4wheel parts said i could cheap out and spend $3,000 to fix it, or go with the kit and fix it for $7,000. a little help would be appreciated, and sorry for the long post! thanks---caleb |

I want the dyna track kit because it goes back to the old school style where you can actually rebuild your hubs which is what I would recommend especially since you have a lift and that can be hard on them especially turning big brutes. The ball joints i run moog on everything but some people hate them. I did ball joints in my buddies truck and I think it was around $150 for everything but thats joints the big seal in the back of the hub that gets destroyed taking out the axle shaft and all of the o-rings to make the auto work but of course this all just me I'm sure someone will chime in with more info
