4X4 not engaging right

Today I put my truck in 4-HI and have all the hubs engaged on auto. It rolled forward normally but then when the 4x4 light came on, it felt like it was pulled back. I felt like if I were to press on the gas pedal, it was going to push against a rod and break or something. I then tried to put it back in 2WD and it still was the same way. I even tried putting it in reverse and in neutral and everything. I was stuck that way for a good 5 minutes before I turned off the truck and then restarted again. By then it was ok and drove with out any problems. Any idea guys? Not real experienced with the 4x4.

Hum, that is strange. What gear did yo uhave it in when you first tried it? Do you have the floor shifter, or the flip switch?

how fast were you moving? I like to sit still if at all possible. Also, sometimes, it takes a little time for things to line up. Have you tried it since?

I was completely stopped on the side of the road. Reached over to put it on 4x4 and then it happened.

Thats really strange. Maybe Marc or one of the other techs will chime in here in a bit. It should go in while rolling. Did you have the hubs locked manually? Try that and see what happens when you do it again.

Yeah I always read posts about people automatically engaging 4x4 so I decided to see if mine could on the "auto" setting on my hubs. I haven't tried manual yet but it'd be nice if I didn't have to run out and change my hubs everytime I needed to race someone lol.

Yeah, if your hubs are not locking properly, it is probably the vac lines. You can see if they are cracked at all. If they do not engage all the way, that can cause problems. Lock them in manually, and see what happens.
