Steering Wheel Chatter/Vibration ????
I've got an '01 that has vibration at roughly 70 mph coming through the wheel. I think I can eliminate u-joints because it only happens at speed and I feel it in the wheel (although I'm open to opinions on that). I have had the wheels and tires rotated and balanced so I don't think it can be those. And I don't have any grinding or undue heat in the rim so I don't think it can be wheel bearings. And lastly, I've got new shocks and sterring stabilizer so I don't think it would have anything to do with that.
So that leaves me to ball joints which I've heard can go bad in these trucks. The truck has towed a bass boat but for all practical purposes it hasn't been worked hard. However, I don't know how bad ball joints would affect the feeling in the wheel. Any thoughts on that? |
