Transfer Case motor

Ok, my 4 wheel does not work again. I have a friend that manages a dealership and he hit the transfercase motor with a hammer to get it working. and told me that if it stops working again we would need to replace the Tcase motor. I might just get the part from napa, what do you guys think?
